Defending Champ Djokovic Avoids 'Upset Bug' in Indian Wells

INDIAN WELLS, Calif -- Defending champion Novak Djokovic passed the first test as he attempts to make it through one of the toughest draws we've witnessed.

The second seed needed only one break to win the first set 6-4. In the second set, his opponent Kyle Edmund brought his imposing game to the Serbian, trading breaks a couple of times. Edmund went up 3-0 in the second but Djokovic got the break back after holding serve to keep it on serve 3-1.

he Brit broke again going up 4-2 and holding his own serve to go up 5-2. At 3-5, 30-30, Djokovic attacked Edmund's second serve, earning himself a breakpoint and breaking after a long rally. At 5-4 30-30, Djokovic hit a sneaky dropshot after trading groundstrokes. He held to level set 5-5.

The set was sent to tiebreaker, where Djokovic used his experience to give himself match points. He sealed the deal on his second match point.
