KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Wozniacki booked their spots in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open and today, two of the four women taking the courts -- Angelique Kerber, Simona Halep, Johanna Konta, and Venus Williams, will aim to grab the last two spots.
Here is the preview and picks:
 Simona Halep v Johanna Konta
Halep hasn't had a great start of 2017 as she lost in the second round of the Shenzhen Open in January, lost to American Shelby Rogers in the first round of the Australian Open, withdrew from her quarterfinal match in St. Petersburg with left knee injury, and lost in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open to Kristina Mladenovic. Good news is she has found her groove. The way she came back a set down to win the fourth round match against Sam Stosur should give her confidence.
Konta, who started working with a new coach this season, started the year with a bang, winning the Apia International Sydney with a win over Agnieszka Radwanska in the final. Today's match against Halep will be her biggest test here in Miami.
Pick: Halep in three tough sets
 Angelique Kerber v Venus Williams
It's always tough to top your best work and this is what the German is experiences after a stellar 2016 where she won the Australian and U.S. Opens, ending the year as world No. 1. 2017 hasn't been kind to Kerber but she's hoping to turn things round this week in Miami.
Williams is having a resurgence with an Australian Open final where she lost to younger sister Serena, and a strong quarterfinal showing at the BNP Paribas Open. She's playing good tennis this week but the question is will she be able to maintain the level against No. 1 seed?
Pick: Williams in three sets
