DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Seventh seed Lucas Pouille is through to the quarterfinals of Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after a straight sets 6-1, 6-4 win over qualifier Marius Copil. Pouille, who lost in the final of Marseille to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Sunday, didn't have the opportunity to acclimate before the tournament.
"Well, I mean, the tournament was good," said Poulle. "It was a good week. I arrived yesterday around 8:30 or 9:00, so couldn't get used to the condition, but, yeah, today I think I was solid enough to win. I'm very happy with the win."
Pouille will play either Australian Open champ Roger Federer or Evgeny Donskoy.
In other action, Fernando Verdasco defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in a tightly contested three-setter. He took the match 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. He awaits the winner of Gael Monfils and Dan Evans.
