INDIAN WELLS, Calif --Karolina Pliskova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova took deferent routs to reach the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday.

Pliskova had a 5-1 lead when Bacsinszky bowed out of the tournament with wrist injury. The Czech, who took over Serena Williams's top section of the draw after she pulled out of the tournament, meets the winner of Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina.

Pavlyuchenkova battled past No. 5 seed Dominika Cibulkova in a three-set thriller. The Russian, who reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in January where she lost to Venus Williams, took the first set before the feisty 27-year-old found her grove in the second set. However, Pavlyuchenkova reclaimed the lead, taking the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Pavlyuchenkova will play Svetlana Kuznetsova, who took out Caroline Garcia in the fourth round 6-1, 6-4.
