SOFIA, Bulgaria -- Home favorite Grigor Dimitrov continued his great 2017 run with a win on home soil. The 25-year-old Bulgarian defeated David Goffin in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 in the final at the Garanti Koza Sofia Open.
This is 13-ranked Dimitrov's second title of the season after taking Brisbane in January, and pushing Rafael Nadal to five sets in the semifinal of Australian Open.
It was a sold-out crowd on Sunday, with the majority supporting their local hero.
"It was extremely emotional week. One of the most emotional in my life, said Dimitrov. "It was not only the last match. I was nervous at the end. It is pretty different to play at home. I felt it once again. I am happy with the victory. I accept this. I will enjoying my time here till the end of the day. Tomorrow everything starts again."
The Bulgarian's eyes are set on reaching ATP Finals.
"I want to reach the ATP final in London. Now I want to enjoy my trophy here, next – we will think."
