MELBOURNE, Australia -- Sam Groth and John Peers put Australia into quarterfinals of Davis Cup after a straight-sets win in the doubles rubber on Saturday.
Groth and Peers took out Czech Republic's Jiri Vesely and Zdenek Kolar in three sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to give Australia the first round win.
On Friday, Jordan Thompson and Nick Kyrgios won their first and second rubbers, respectively. The fourth and fifth rubbers will now become dead rubbers. Australia will next face the winner of United States and Switzerland.
