It was another tough week on court for me in Guadalajara. I drew former top 15 player Jerzy Janowicz from Poland in the first round. Guadalajara was a tough adjustment going from the cold indoors of Canada, to outdoors, hot conditions along with around 1500m of altitude (you guys can do the conversion again)! I had one day of practice and played the first night match of the week and went down in three sets.
A large part of the rest of my week has been spent on a plane. I flew from Guadalajara to Richmond, VA, via Dallas. I spent one night in Richmond with my girlfriend, Britt, I packed up my stuff in the apartment I have rented there for the last 4 years, and left Richmond for the last time. I really enjoyed the time I spent in Virginia and the people I met. It had really become home for me, so I was a little sad to leave.
The last part of my trip, on Friday, I flew from Richmond to Philadelphia, then to LA and finally onto Melbourne - arriving 32 hours later on Sunday morning. The exciting thing about leaving Richmond is that now I am home in Melbourne and have moved into my new house!! I spent the whole day Sunday moving in and also buying necessities for my house. A washing machine, dryer, TV, fridge, bar stools, the list goes on. I never knew how hard it was to move into a new house and to try and fill it up with stuff.
I also got straight back on court. Lleyton got on court with me for my first hit and gave me the run around. I also got straight back into the gym. We have Davis Cup against the US up in Brisbane in just under two weeks, so it’s straight back to work to prepare for that tie. I'll keep everyone updated on how the preparation goes.
