So, I’m up in Brisbane – preparing for this week’s Davis Cup tie. We got to Brisbane on Thursday, having traveled up here as a team. The only person missing right now is Nick, he should be here first thing tomorrow morning after his good run in Miami. The good thing about Davis Cup is the chance to be part of a team. It’s something we miss day to day on tour. Having a week or so together in a tight-knit group is a really good thing, especially for me when I’ve been struggling a little bit – it’s a really good boost for my morale and also gives us a chance to get a good load of work done. It’s great to have a good group of guys pushing you on.
Before I got to Brisbane, I had a couple of days in my new house which was nice – slowly moved some stuff in. Even though I don’t have a lot of furniture right now, the rest of it should arrive next week and, hopefully, when I get back from Brisbane, after Davis Cup, it’ll all be there.
I’ve also pretty much finalized plans for my new coach, so maybe after Davis Cup I will tell you all who that is going to be. It’s been a process trying to find the right person and, hopefully, now, I’ll have that done. I can start with them when I get to Europe.
At Davis Cup we also had the chance to go to an Aussie Rules football game. It’s probably my favorite sport, even though my favorite team wasn’t playing. I think it’s always nice to get to a game – and it’s also nice to use it as a chance to pump up this week’s tie against the US.
Alright, it’s late here and I’m hitting the sack. Here’s to a great Davis Cup week!
