This week I hit the road again but not quite into tournament mode yet. I flew from Richmond, VA, over to Los Angeles where I spent the week practicing at UCLA. I like to spend time in California, for me it's very similar to home - good weather and on the coast. It was actually where I was looking to set up my next home base until I bought a house in Melbourne in December.
I had the chance to join the Tennis Channel Live set on Wednesday which was great. It was my first time on set and hopefully I will get the chance to get there on a more regular basis.
On Thursday I went out to the Stub Hub Center at Carson where, with other tennis players, I joined players from the LA Galaxy and the LA Chargers for National Read Across America Day. We read to underprivileged kids and helped to educate them in the value of reading and education.
On Friday, I made the drive out to the desert to Indian wells where I have started preparations for the BNP Paribas Open qualies which begins on Tuesday. At the time of writing I'm still three out, so fingers crossed I move in. I'll let you all know how this week goes!
About My Tennis Life Series:
In February of 2017, Tennis Channel launched its first multi-platform content series My Tennis Life featuring two professional tennis players, Nicole Gibbs (USA) and Sam Groth (Australia), as they traverse the globe in search of valuable ATP and WTA points. The series gives you a behind-the-scenes look of the professional tour. Tennis fans across the globe will witness Sam and Nicole’s efforts to break through respectively on the ATP and WTA Tours, and the challenges they face while trying to improve their game and career earnings.
