Venus has pulled out of the Hopman Cup, and last time she was seen on court, she was hitting one-handed backhands only. She's obviously still injured. I doubt she will play the Australian. It looks like Serena will be there though.

If Davenport deserved the #1 ranking (and ending the year #1) without winning a major since January of 2000, then Maria deserved her time at #1 this year. I personally believe a player is not a deserving #1 unless they are a current holder of a major.

Well, last I heard the ratings are up a whopping 33% over last year's US Open Series ratings, and last year was quite a bit higher than '03, before the US Open Series. So, apparently someone is doing something right.

Off the top of my head, I know he beat Safin, Henman and Coria in the Masters Cup. Considering only the top 8 were there, those were definitely wins over top 10 players in the last year. I know mcfan had the tennis channel last year but Voom is now gone. I think he is upset about that. I understand that. I just got the channel a few weeks ago. I am excited but do wish it was available for everyone. I may be happy now but I know my cable system is switching from Comcast to Time Warner next year. I don't know what the future will hold
