Besides trhe first weekend does anyone know what the coverage will be for the rest of the 2 weeks??? I read somewhere that ESPN2 is no longer doing it....
Fox Sports is covering it like 7 hrs/day starting on Monday 3/16.
Have no clue if TTC is covering it at all. That would be typical. There's nothing anywhere about that.
Does Fox Sports broadcast in Chicago, I thought that was only a station that broadcasts on the West coast
Kindly let us know if we can get The Tennis Channel in Dubai or Direct tv te get the coverage of Indian Wells.
Thanks a lot
Tamim ( what does that name mean?) I think your best bet for coverage is going to be this http://www.tennistv.com/page/Home/0,,11444,00.html
ESPN2 is not doing it, TTC only has the first 2 days. I might have to do that too. Hopefully the Miami tournament will be properly broadcast.
Fox Sports Network will be covering the rest of the tournament. Be aware that your local Fox Sports affiliate is not obligated to cover the event. In Chicago for example, Comcast SportsNet decided not to cover the event at all. Last year they showed the men's semis, the women's final, and the men's final on tape delay at ridiculous hours (after midnight).
Fortunately for us, their contract comes to an end this year... so hopefully, Tennis Channel can pick up the right for next year. This is a prestigious combined event and it should be broadcast as such.
According to the Sony Ericsson Open website, Fox Sports Network will also be covering the Miami event. Needless to say, I'm going to miss two of the biggest tennis events of the year.
You are so right. The announcers for the masters usually do a pretty good job but this time they are dishpan awful. I watched the match for Monfils and Isner and they were so bias it was ridiculous. Bordering on racism since Gael is #9 in the world and Isner is not in the top 100 and they were talking about Monfils like he was a retarded goon. Not bad for a retarded goon to reach #9 in the world. Maybe I should get in the ATP!! Of course the announcers are a bunch of "has beens" or worse yet, "never was". Yet they criticize those who were more talented in their jouniors then the announcers were in their entire playing career. They act like bitter impotent men.
Anyone else think it's absolutely ridiculous that we cannot get Indian Wells on TV? Fox Sports Net is available in very limited parts of the country. It's a horrible network. this is arguably the most exciting time in the men's game, and we can't even get TV coverage (and it's 2009!!!!). Coverage was better in 1980 when there was just CBS.
I guess the ATP doesn't care. ESPN used to cover all of these tournaments. (The Tennis Channel isn't even carrying Indian Wells). Their coverage was excellent. The entire USA was exposed to tennis. Now, it's nowhere to be found outside of the grand slams. Who comes up with these contracts?!?!
I agree with you totally. The TC showed the first 2 days live, and that was that, so it is obvious that it could have been televised. What are we paying for. I was so disappointed, I really want to cancel my subscription. I contacted Comcast to let them know of my concerns, but it seems nobody really cares..... but the avid paying customer.
i live in the united states and i love my country but there coverage of tennis is so patheic. why buy the rights to tournment and not show it. we get 3 hours in the day and 3hour at 1030pm and if the player are done they cut off coverage. and you dont even see the best players. nadal played wednesday night and because other matches went long they didnt even show it .It was 2:30am now what else is on they couldnt show it and today no joker or nadal in the time slot.
It is extremely dissapointing that The Tennis Channel is not showing such an important tournament and instead, is showing old matches that are frankly depressing compared to the quality and speed of today's tennis.
If this is what they do, shouldn't they call it the "Tennis History Channel"?
