Hi, I am from Boston area and just out of my curiousity if I subscribed to female tennis channel. Apparently I am a male and would like to watch more male players playing. Nonetheless after watching it for a couple of days, I kept watching ladies playing around. And I was very impressed by tennis channel that they offer very intelligent and customized programs that I actually never missed single match on the show. I was out of home and turned on the channel after back, wola, the game I was watching before leaving is still there... How amazing is it?
Can anybody tell me if which channel is for male's tennis channel, mine is 400, I searched neighbouring channels, but no luck! Can anybody give a hint?
Thanks in advance
Roger
... what gets me even more pissed off Roger is that they use the term "Classic" in the top corner of the screen for a match that nobody ever saw or cared about!! It seems as though these guys at TC are simply on cruise control and not putting a lot into the programming. they seem to be acquiring archival footage of crappy matches in the bulk. they must have gotten a deal on 50 women's "classic" matches. most of these matches dont even have 500 people in the stands watching.
these guys must think we're too stupid to care or notice. (see my rant in the "should i give up on tennis channel" post).
anyway, only 5 months till the Australian!!
PS - i wonder what will happen to tennis channel if the FCC allows cable operators to go towards an a-la-carte model? i hope the programming improves enough to keep viewers interested in subscribing...
Roger:
Very Good! I am in total agreement. I suppose the WTA has lower cost distribution rights, or the programming folks at the Tennis Channel in Santa Monica are women. I have been frustrated trying to get good service of the ATP men's tour. Right now is a good example, Andy Roddick won the Beijing open recently, was it covered? NO. He is now playing Semis of the Japan Open, is it covered? No. Not even tape delayed! Del Potro is one of the most exciting young Tennis stars that is playing in the Semis of the Japan open too. Is it covered, No. The Japan open is not even acknowledged by the Tennis channel, and they show women playing Beach tennis instead.
Good luck trying to find coverage; you may as well go play against the wall.

News Flash: The VP of the Tennis Channel determines the programming, and guess what? The VP is a totally biased individual. She is only airing the WTA version of the China open, tape delayed, not the ATP. I am dropping my Tennis Channel subscription after calling Santa Monica and being treated very cold. E-Mail viewerrespose@thetennischannel and sound out if you want your subscription to contain ATP matches.
Well, get used to it, Jene Elzie, VP of theTennis Channel continues to air WTA match after match, without ATP action. Check this site to see all the tournaments being covered: Can you find any ATP?

What's with all the complaining? Tennis Channel does an absolutely incredible job of bringing us every ATP Masters Series event live starting from the first round. There is not a single women's event that receives that kind of treatment. ESPN and all those other so-called sports channels would never give you this kind of coverage. So please, stop complaining and enjoy the last two Masters Series events in their entirety. Tennis Channel even got the rights to show some singles matches from Shanghai this year.
Yes, I am not in full agreement that this is the "female tennis channel". During the Masters Series events, there are many hours per week of coverage. Every masters series event gets quite a lot of coverage, and many matches are seen on TV.
Even outside of the Masters Series events, there are a bunch of non-Masters Series tournaments that get covered too. The U.S. Open Series has quite a few of their events on TV. Also the Tennis Channel Open, and a couple of the pre-Australian Open warmups. Don't forget Queens also.
I think a lot of the frustration here is that there are many tennis fans who are not that interested in women's tennis, and they get frustrated when they happen to see a couple of women's events on TV in a row. This leads them to believe "oh my gosh this is a female tennis channel." Their frustration takes over the fact that all of the Masters Series events have a lot of coverage, plus several non-Masters Series events. I admit, I myself would like to see more of the men's matches covered. For example this week I would have loved to see Lyon, St. Petersburg or Basel. But, when I really look at the whole picture, there is not a lot to complain about, regarding men's tennis coverage on TV.
Perhaps. the poor quality of tennis that characterizes WTA offerings may indeed provoke reaction beyond the minutes of brosdcast. Still - tennis channel should know this.
